LA Jewels: Mariscos Jalisco

LA Jewels: The City of Angels is known for Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Santa Monica, UCLA, USC, Dodgers, and HIPSTERS! But lets not forget that Los Angeles is also a melting pot of different cultures. From the Westside, to KoreaTown, to South LA, to East LA, we have a little of everything.

Mariscos Jalisco

Bruhhhhhh.... this place is "SLAP-YO-MOMMA" good! It has a YELP rating of 4.5 stars and has been consistently featured on LA Time's Jonathan Gold's Top 101 Restaurants.

Mariscos Jalisco is a Mariscos (seafood) truck that is in Boyle Heights located on Olympic Blvd. (3040 E Olympic Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90023right off the 5 freeway and near that creepy looking Sears tower. Mariscos Jalisco is known for its $2.25 delicious crispy tacos de camaron (you know, the kind that would probably cost you $6+ at a hipster restaurant). These tacos are dressed in a tomato sauce with cilantro and avocado, and if you like your life a little spicy they have a special habanero sauce you can top them with. You will end up ordering a couple more.

I usually order two tostadas de ceviche de camaron...cause I want to feel like I am making the healthy choice (LOL) but also because their ceviche is on point and hella fresh, AND they don't up-charge you for AVOCADO (yasssss! it's included).  I top it with one of the many spicy sauces they have and gobble it down like I've never eaten before.

Sinuses congested? or Hungover? Have the Aguachiles. For those who LOVE SPICY FOOD and not faint of heart. I challenge you to try the Aguachiles tostada. You might need Tums after and your butt might burn the next morning... but it will all be worth it after you try their Aguachiles. Aguachiles is shrimp in a spicy sauce that doesn't hit you until you feel a sense of security. BAM the heat explodes in your mouth and all that Orange Fanta is not going to make it go away.

My SO and I once watched a white boy eat a whole tostada as he cried lying to himself "it's not that hot." Don't lie boo! Eat with caution, take breaks, and don't touch your face!

So if you are ever in the east side of town and down for some Mexica seafood, give Mariscos Jalisco a try.
