LA Jewels: Mariscos Guillen La Playita (Santa Monica)

LA Jewels: The City of Angels is known for Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Santa Monica, UCLA, USC, Los Dodgers, and HIPSTERS! But lets not forget that Los Angeles is also a melting pot of different cultures. From the Westside, to KoreaTown, to South LA, to East LA, we have a little of everything.

Mariscos Guillen La Playita (Santa Monica)

I know... I know... Santa Monica is not really LA. But it's literally on the border, and how could I not talk about this place. This is a small locale located on 3306 Lincoln Blvd., Santa Monica, CA 90405. I love this place because it's quick, cheap and delicious.

When I was a UCLA student I always craved Mariscos (Mexican seafood) but honestly the west side is kinda dry when it comes to good Mexican food (YES I SAID IT, SUE ME... actually don't cause I can't afford it). Somehow I ran into this place on one of my Costco runs and my life was made.

Ceviche and Coctel de Camaron is my ish... I can eat that all day, and theirs is up to par. I love their Coctel de Camaron cause it's fresh and they are definitely not stingy with it like other places (yes, I am throwing shade!).

I was there earlier today after not going there for maybe over a year... the quality is still just as good. I had the tostada de jaiba, a tostada de ceviche de camaron, and an horchata, which came out to $8.25 TOTAL (A FREAKING DEEEEAL!!!). A jaiba tostada is literally a mountain of jaiba with avocado, and I swear my fatty self thought I was not going to be able to finish it.

El Bae went for the mixta tostada (which has jaiba, shrip, and octopus I believe), a shrimp taco and a fried fish taco. He said the fried fish taco was the best of the three things he got and wished he would have gotten two tacos instead of the shrimp taco and mixta tostada, as he overestimated how much he could eat... cause like I said, they ain't stingy with their servings.

I love this place and according to YELP, a lot of güeros do too.
