LA Jewels (BRUNCH EDITION): Nick's Coffee Shop & Deli

Posted by Vanessa Delgadillo on

LA Jewels: The City of Angels is known for Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Santa Monica, UCLA, USC, Los Dodgers, and HIPSTERS! But lets not forget that Los Angeles is also a melting pot of different cultures. From the Westside, to KoreaTown, to South LA, to East LA, we have a little of everything.

Nick's Coffee Shop & Deli

This is my spot though!!!!! 😛  Nick's is a good ol' American diner located in LA's Pico/La Cienega neighborhood (8536 W Pico Blvd. Los Angeles, CA 90035). I believe this place has been around since 1946...? Their menu is hella extensive, and you can get lost in it when trying to decide what you will eat to cure that hangover of yours.

Don't be intimidated by the long line as you drive by looking for parking. Be smart and listen to my tip, call ahead of time and get your name on the wait list... so that when you arrive you get to walk up to the front and get seated within minutes. Now, don't go to Nick's expecting to get your food right away, as like I said this place has been around for a long while and their kitchen looks like it's been around for that long. It's going to take at least 30 minutes for you to get your food from when you order.

While you wait, order some coffee, and take this place in. Admire all the autographed pictures on the wall and just chill out. This family-run restaurant has top notch service, something that is missing in a lot of those hipster brunch joints.

Every time I'm there I stare at the overwhelmingly long menu and somehow always end up getting one of the same three things:
Make-your-own omelet (bacon, jalapeños, and spinach to feel healthy lol)
or
Eggs, chicken sausage, crispy hash browns (THE BOMBEST hash browns evaaaaa!) with an English muffin
or
BLTA sandwich.

Nick's never disappoints!

P.S. While you wait, make sure to keep an eye out for their Speedy Gonzalez busser, this guy zooms by back and forth, I'm surprised I've never seen him crash into anyone.

One of Bae's favorites: french toast y cafecito.

#100: Scrambled eggs, 4 slices of bacon, crispy hasbrowns and english muffin (excuse the half-eaten food, as I was hella hungry).
